Beached Copper
Date: July 2008
Details: Retired Cymbal, couch & gutter coins, woven copper electrodes
My eldest son is a drummer and challenged me to make something from one of his damaged cymbals. A colleague then gave me a large bundle of woven copper electrodes and the colour and soft texture of these seemed to contrast with the hard and shiny surface of the cymbal. The coins were a last minute addition but became the focus of the piece, I wanted to show that they still had value and were collected from the streets and my couch.
