Flow

Date: February 2010
Details: Portland Stone, Graphite powder and shellac
The shapes in this piece were determined by the original shape of the stone and I wanted to explore working with another material that contrasted with the stone in colour and texture. Initially my idea was to fill the channel with an inner tube, which I tried and liked, however I was tempted to colour the channel with powdered graphite in addition to this to give the channel a metallic and harder quality. This completely changed the feel of the piece and the inner tube is now destined for other things.
